The reality in the forest
Photos from industrial forests and scandalous clear-cuts. All photos in this gallery are taken during 2000-2009 in forest landscapes managed by the major environmental certified forest companies in Sweden. The photos show the shortcomings of the existing environmental considerations and the transformation of the forest landscape from species-rich natural forests to monocultures and uniform production forests. All images are taken by Protect the Forest, if nothing else is indicated.

In the inland of Norrland, there are landscapes where clear-cuts and monocultures of plantation forests and young forests, expand to the horizon. – A green desert where biodiversity is impoverished!

Over-exploited forest landscape.

View from Lill-Ståkke in the outskirts of Arvidsjaur in Norrbotten. Forest degraded by AssiDomän as far as the eye can see. No regrowth after the forest was clear-cut. The photo was taken in 2003.

Clear-cut virgin-like natural forest in southern Norrbotten. The forest was logged by AssiDomän/Sveaskog in about 2001. The photo is taken in 2002.

One of the many large clear-cuts of SCA, Finnträck, southern Norrbotten. The loging was conducted by SCA in about 2000, at the same time as the company applied for FSC-certifying its forestry.
